Aubéry Escande is Head of Europeana Network; he is responsible for the Network Association, Network Communication, Europeana Pro platform and Events targeted towards the various Europeana communities including those involving Policy Makers. Aubéry is also the liaison officer for EFG – the film archive aggregator – at Europeana – and PrestoCentre coordinator for Beeld & Geluid (Sound and Vision Netherlands). Aubéry was involved in the development of FORWARD, a CRB (Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique) and EYE Film Institute (Film Museum and Archive of the Netherlands) initiative: FORWARD (www.project-forward.eu) is an EU funded project that has created a system to support the rights status assessment of audiovisual works and the orphan works diligent search. Aubéry previously worked as The Europeana Library Communications manager. In 2011, Aubéry coordinated the prototype launch of Europeana 1914-1918, an initiative that aimed at collecting private memorabilia from the First World War across Europe. Aubéry also worked as journalist for several specialist magazines and agencies. He graduated in Film & Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam and Paris VII-Université Denis Diderot, and Journalism at the University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne.
